As an anon pointed out, when Dean is crying over his brother’s lifeless body, he prays to the divine of heaven. When Sam is crying over his brother’s lifeless body, he summons the King of Hell.

Yet ironically in earlier seasons Sam’s the religious one and dean is the atheist!

Which can lead back to the season 5 promo poster of Dean having a halo and Sam having a snake wrapped around his arm.

So in a way it goes back to Michael’s Vessel vs. Lucifer’s Vessel. Whatever choices you make, whatever details you alter, we will always end up—here.
